Reschedule of 2024 Annual Meeting
Club Meeting Update………
Spring Annual Meeting 2024-25 – Lighthouse – Lake Keowee – March 8,2025
My greetings to everyone as we progress into the new year!
I wanted to update you that we will be having our rescheduled Annual Meeting from 2024, and a look forward into 2025 on:
March 8, 2025 at the Light Restaurant and Cabana on Lake Keowee.
1290 Doug Hollow Road
Seneca, SC 29672
I appreciate your understanding on the rescheduling of our Annual Meeting from last October. As noted previously, with all of the impacts of Hurricane Helene, our associated Greenwood Show cancellation, the upcoming Concours d’Elegance at Hilton Head and the Holiday Season it was difficult to have this gathering.
We tried to reschedule in conjunction with the Upstate Boat Show in Greenville, for late January, but could not. Considering that several key members of our Club will be traveling in February, I refocused on early March.
Last week I met personally with the new General Manager at the Lighthouse on Lake Keowee. I was very appreciative of the time he spent with me.
I have reserved their restaurant upper room and seating area for 10:00am on March 8th followed by brunch for all attending courtesy of our Club. This will be an important step in developing relationships and venue options for the future. I continue to focus diligently on developing a location here on Keowee.
Our discussions included a possible Rendezvous that could be held at the Lighthouse in conjunction with the Corvette (Vett City) car shows that are held there each spring and fall. There are some key aspects to this that I will share and discuss when we meet on March 8th.
Recently, the Lighthouse has completed a very nice renovation. More projects are scheduled for the future, and their lakeside Cabana continues to be very busy.
The Corvette show is very successful and well attended. Vintage models up to the most modern high performance cars are included. It is felt that our boats would be an ideal complement. As with any new consideration, there are important logistics to balance. Our discussions centered on the fall date which will be set in October.
In the past our Club held an event at the Crooked Creek Marina on Lake Keowee, but the wave action at the docks was a sincere concern by those attending. The Lighthouse is much more manageable in this regard with a no wake zone in the approach and departure. I have communicated the schedule for a typical Rendezvous, and how we could blend with the car show using one of their two docks. More considerations will follow and I am very respectful of the Cabana popularity and the number of boats that come in and out through a day.
Separately, John Heiderich and I will be traveling up to Lake Lure just before we meet to give you the latest recovery update. We would like to hold a Trailer Show for the Town to continue our support for everyone there. We are not sure of this show date yet, but we hope for the early summer. We will review this while we are there.
Lastly, our 2025 Annual Meeting will return to October of this year as normally scheduled.
Thank you for letting me update you, and I look forward to our gathering in March. If you should have any questions or thoughts, please to not hesitate to contact me as noted below. I am grateful to be of service to our Chapter, and I look forward to the year as it progresses.
I would be grateful if you could RSVP to me if you will be joining us on March 8th. Please email or text, and I will keep a list.
Very sincerely,
Steve Dewire
