On our trip to spend time with dear friends in Tennessee, we visited Tellico Reservoir for the first time on a clear and warm day. The lake is 33 miles long with 357 miles of shoreline. Created in 1980 by the Tennessee Valley Authority, Tellico is located at the base of the Appalachian Mountains with portions in three counties.
The Tellico Village Yacht Club is a great location for the Dixieland Chapter to host their fall boat show. It was also nice to see Art Hampton who has enjoyed this show over many years. His Chris Craft always shows well! Tom Kreidler is a gracious host, and we enjoyed the visit.
Nearby Eleanor was resting easy at the dock. A 1965 Supersport owned by Shawna Streeter. Her father spent three years on the restoration after finding the boat in Baltimore. A bow collision created serious damage and it would be a long journey back to the water. The original engine was a 427 Ford, and she now is powered by a 390 Ford. Shawna remains very grateful to her father for all his work and commitment.
Two Peas in a Pod also cruised up the lake to join the show. A 1934 Art Jones 18’ Launch, she now has a 48-volt electric engine and has been well cared for by Eric and Carolyn Chase. She looks great both at rest and gliding through the water.
Torch Song is a beautiful 1953 Chris Craft Sportsman and a well deserving multi-award winner through the years! She is owned by Art Ivins who is the Chapter President for Dixieland.
Chris’ Craft is a 1957 CC Cavalier 17 that has undergone full restoration with modifications by Chris and Bob Braaf. The photo book shows the transformation, and all the thought, detail and effort that went into the process.
These are just a few of the different boats that were at the show!
My best to everyone!
