Membership update!
Looking Forward………Our BRC membership update and review of the 2024 Show Schedule
My sincere greetings as we move into early 2024. Punxsutawney Phil has advised that Spring may be early…………and it is great to know that the new season will be on the horizon soon!
At our Annual Meeting last October, it was my sincere privilege to thank Craig for all that he has done over the previous years. I am grateful to be serving everyone going forward and took the opportunity to share my goals for the coming year. These centered on membership, setting our show schedule, reaching out to attend and visit other Chapters to learn/share, and listening to your thoughts on what you would like to see for the future of our chapter.
Over the last three months we have worked to reset our show schedule due to the renovation of the docks at Lake Greenwood. This is a large project that will be a very positive upgrade when completed. I was thankful to Art Swanson, Craig, Monty Cheshire and John Heiderich as we worked through the changes. Lake Greenwood was shifted to early October of this year. The Break-On-The-Lake venue was very supportive, and we scheduled the show when Clemson has an away game.
We then tried to shift Lake Sinclair forward from September to the original Greenwood April dates, but after thoughtful consideration, the Campground felt that they would be too busy with their slips, ramps, and parking. All well understood. Working with Monty, we decided that we would not hold the Sinclair show this year, and we would consider what the best timing in 2025 could be. John then moved the Hartwell Rendezvous into the open April date. We accomplished the overall goal to get a good spacing for the spring and fall shows. (In 2025 our intent is to move Greenwood back to April). CLICK HERE for the current 2024 show schedule.
I have also been very focused on developing a show option for Lake Keowee in 2025. This takes time, but I am working on an early October date that could partner with an existing and successful Corvette Show. We also have a membership opportunity as there are more wooden boats on Keowee now.
The chapter outreach and listening to our members has started. I sincerely appreciate the feedback. This included visiting the Dixieland Tellico Lake and Smith Mountain Lake shows. Also attending a seminar for the NC Coastal and Piedmont chapter in January. I plan to set times to meet with other chapter leaders and continue listening to our members throughout this year.
My sincere thank you for the opportunity to serve, and I will be sending you updates each month.
