2026 Lake Lure Classic Boat Show
Lake Lure Show Update and Key Information
My summer season greetings to everyone…….and may I please update you on our upcoming Lake Lure Show………This will be a longer message as there is important information to convey, and my sincere thank you for taking the time to read through!
Our online Registration will open very soon, and we will advise everyone when the website is ready for access.
As mentioned previously, we have been asked by the Town of Lake Lure to participate in a boat parade and cruise on Wednesday September 30th at 11:00am. This special gathering will Commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Lake Lure Dam Impoundment on September 30th, 1926. As the lake filled, the Inn was being constructed, and the Centennial Year for the Town was unfolding. We are very grateful for this opportunity, and would you please review the key points below………
Boating License and Proof of Insurance for Lake Lure
As many of you are familiar, each Captain must have a valid Boat License for the Lake. If you have completed this test before, your license does not expire. Please be sure that you have it with you.
The Boat License test can be done in advance online. Please access the Town website at: townoflakelure.com
- In the search box (upper right) please enter: Boat License.
- You will see a drop-down menu and please choose: Lake Lure Boater Safety Course and Test.
- Please click this and more information will appear. You will see the option to take the test online.
It’s very important to have your license, or a $250 ticket can be issued. It’s a straightforward process, so please do this in advance. Also please note that the lake is actively patrolled.
Lake Lure also requires that you bring the front page of your boat insurance policy so that coverage can be verified. This will be collected at Launch so please do not overlook this key item.
Dock Slip Assignments – BRC Waiver
Our Pier can accommodate 23 to 25 boats based on the length of boats on the beach side of the Pier. John Heiderich will be our Dock Master. At the last Lake Lure Show prior to Helene we had 30+ boats. We also used Dock H across the bay from our Pier for overflow. Based on feedback, this was not as desirable. Well understood.
At that time, we determined that future Registrations would be on a “first come first serve” basis for slip assignments on our Pier. A member may choose if they would still like to attend, but moor at the adjacent Dock H after our Pier is filled. Dock H has 8 to 10 slips and is a walk around the beach sidewalk to access it. (Personally, I will moor there to maximize space at our Pier).
Lastly, please be sure to sign your Waiver that our Chapter requires for each of our shows. There will be a link to print this on the Registration Form. Please have this with you to collect at Launching.
Tuesday Evening 9/29 and Wednesday 9/30
Due to the Wednesday morning start time of 11am, we will need to be in position by 10:15am. We will place ourselves just adjacent to the Morse Park Pavilion to give photography opportunities and ensure that we are in the best order.
Our goal will be to lead with the oldest boat to the newest. We will be arranged by our Registrations with this information. Residents from the lake will also be welcome to attend, and we will work in advance to set our positions for the cruise.
We will depart and travel up to a Commemoration Ceremony being held at the Dam itself. We will be a part of the background as directed. Although we may not be able to hear the Commemoration, it’s a special moment to be recorded historically, and a wonderful comparison to this date 100 years ago.
It is highly encouraged that those who will participate in the Parade arrive on Tuesday. We will have assistance for launching based on your arrival times, and our boats will be moored at our traditional pier. We would not want to encounter unexpected issues at the ramp on Wednesday morning.
The Inn has kindly offered a block of rooms for Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at a special rate of $118.00 per night. If you have already called ahead to reserve your room, the rate will be adjusted as above.
Looking ahead, our rates will be $126 for Thursday evening and $145 for Friday and Saturday evenings. Our block increases to 25 rooms for these days. We are very thankful to the Inn for their rate support as this is a busy weekend for them. Our traditional light breakfast in the Powers Room will be included in the rate for all mornings Wednesday – Sunday.
An informal dinner gathering will be arranged for Tuesday arrivals and Wednesday evening as we do in at the Hilton Head Concours. More will follow on this.
Thursday 10/1
Thursday will begin our normal Lake Lure Show Schedule with early arrivals. Assistance will be available at the Launch Ramp based on your arrival times as noted on your Registrations. We look forward to seeing everyone!
We will have a traditionally informal dinner on Thursday evening.
Friday 10/2
Friday will be our early show day for guests and rides from offering Captain’s . As is our tradition, we do not ever charge or accept payment for this.
Friday evening’s dinner will be at the Beach Pavilion. This has always been an enjoyable buffet experience for our time together! Our favorite DJ will also be joining us.
Saturday 10/3 10:00am – 3:30pm
Show Day! This is our opportunity to share with the many people who will visit with us. Captain’s offering rides will be encouraged. Our awards voting will be for People’s and Captain’s Choices.
Our final evening dinner will be in the Roosevelt Room at the Inn.
Trailer Storage
As in the past, we can plan on trailer storage up and behind the Inn in the gravel lot.
Lake Lure Ramp
When arriving at Lake Lure, a temporary building will be replacing the prior Lake Lure Tours Office. Please plan to stop there to check in. There may be a nominal Launch Fee as there has been in the past. We will pull forward to the main launch ramp as before. There had been discussion about the other ramp being opened, but that has not occurred. We will continue as we have in the past.
My thank you again for reading through this information, and I hope that you will find it useful and helpful. More will be following, along with online Registration. Please contact me or John if you have questions, and we will be happy to respond.
Our best to all! Steve and John
