Thank you for your interest in the Antique and Classic Boat Society and the Blueridge Chapter. The mission of our organization is to bring together people with a common interest in historic, antique, and classic boats and to share fellowship, information, experience and ideas. The Blueridge Chapter of ACBS encompasses the States of Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. BRC is one of the larger and more active chapters with some 250+ members and four chapter supported in-the-water events per year, two out of water events and our annual meeting of members. Typically, we will go to Lakes Hartwell and Lake Lure, Lake Sinclair, Hilton Head and sometimes Lake Burton as well as Lake Norman. Our annual membership meeting is held at various locations in the three state area.
At our boating events, you’ll see lots of boats of different material, wood, fiberglass, and aluminum.
• Historic: A boat built up to and including 1918.
• Antique: A boat built between 1919 and 1942, inclusive.
• Classic: A boat built between 1943 and 1975, inclusive.
• Late Classic: A boat built after 1975 through the year 25 years prior to the current year.
(In 2019, the Late Classic period ends with boats built in 1994.)
• Contemporary: A wooden boat built within the last 25 years.
To get involved and take advantage of membership, you will join both the ACBS ($55) and the Blue Ridge Chapter ($20). You can do both with the on-line application at www.acbs.org.
This qualifies you to participate in Blue Ridge Chapter events and the events of all other ACBS chapters throughout the United States and Canada. ACBS will give you access to their member site www.acbs.org, also send you the quarterly magazine called “The Rudder.” You will also be receiving our chapter newsletter, The Range Marker, with information about events, past and future, and other things happening in our world of old boats. We invite members to submit articles and pictures about anything pertaining to our hobby.
This is a great way to enjoy your boat and meet some wonderful people that share your interest in the old classics. If you have any questions or just want to talk about boats, feel free to contact me, or any of our officers or members. We look forward to seeing you at our Blue Ridge Chapter events and learning more about you and your interest in old boats.
