Hello Everyone. My name is Art. I recently have completely changed my life.
After what seems a lifetime-it has been-I have finally retired, moved from New York to South Carolina, and return to some old hobbies and dreams.
I have rejoined our club and after talking to both present and past leaders of our club, they convinced me to give this a try. They have asked me to be one of our club Safety advisors.
I am nervous, but feel somewhat qualified, given my career. I was a “Shop teacher for 32 yrs.
Safety has been a major part of my life, both in and out of the classroom. As we grow older and wiser, our “Hat” collection continues to grow. The one Hat that stays near the top of the closet is the Safety Hat. You may have several in different colors, yellow, bright orange, red, and maybe more.
Most of us practice safety every day without the blink of an eye; raising children, for ourselves, driving, in our homes, boats, cars, and careers.
My “Safety Float Plan” for this venture is to simply remind all of us that any boating venture requires “Safety”.
A Safe day on the water is not to be taken for granted. When the idea strikes for a boating day, walking down to the dock, hitching up the trailer, accepting an invitation from friends, or calling the marina, there are Special Safety “Rules that apply.
No matter what type of boating is in the plans, it starts with the correct type “Approved” Safety vest for everyone taking part in the adventure. More on this next time.
