The Blue Ridge Chapter of the ACBS recently held the 2021 Lake Sinclair Antique and Classic Boat Show at Little River Park Campground & Marina. Twenty Three ACBS members participated in the Show. On Friday, September 24th. Boat enthusiasts enjoyed a leisurely morning cruise up the lake toward Crooked Creek Marina and then again enjoyed the beautiful scenery down the lake toward Twin Bridges in the afternoon. Many residents posted on Facebook how much they enjoyed viewing the majestic wooden boats in motion. The event was open to the public on Saturday, September 25, at the covered docks of Little River Park. There were several local vendors and good BBQ, sponsored by Beedie Heads BBQ from 10 AM to 3 PM. We were blessed to have amazing weather and a fantastic fellowship.
The Awards Banquet took place Saturday evening at Taylor’s Cove. Four trophies were awarded. Captain’s Choice was presented to Steve Dwire for his entry “BARBALA”, a 1966 Arabian Century. Peoples Choice was presented to Art Hampton for his entry “It’s Someday”, a 1958 Capri Chris Craft. Best Transom Name was awarded to Craig & Theresa McMullins for their boat Nauti Buoy, a 1957 Sea Skiff Chris Craft. Last Year during a private presentation a Special trophy was presented to Tom Neff, owner of Neff’s Classic Boats, by his Grandson Joel Neff. Tom gifted ownership name and business to Joel at the same private dinner. This year Joel Neff, officially presented the perpetual trophy to his grandfather Tom Neff. This trophy, the Tom Neff’s Craftsmanship Award, was presented to a boat enthusiast who represented the spirit of Tom. Who personally worked on their own boat to restore and preserve it. The 2021 recipient of the Tom Neff’s Craftsmanship Award was presented to Rob Welch for his entry “Marianne” a 1957 Swift Penn Yan.
The Lake Sinclair Committee would like to officially thank ACBS Members for participating and displaying their boats. The show would not have been such a success without your participation. With heart-filled thanks, we would like to thank all our community sponsors who so generously donated to make the show so successful. In addition, we thank all or vendors and volunteers who participated and helped make the show such an enjoyable event.
