The ACBS 50th Anniversary International Show in Clayton…….with a stop at the Smith Mountain Lake’s Annual Show on the way to New York!
Although some time has passed, what a special experience attending the ACBS 50th Anniversary Boat Show for a week in mid to later September. This was a first time experience in the Thousand Islands, and a wonderful opportunity to see the Antique Boat Museum and all of boats that attended!
The ACBS leadership team, volunteers and the ABM did an outstanding job along with all of the beautiful boats shared by their owners. The Judges were meticulous and evaluated each entry with care, had good discussions with the owners, and then their own deliberations. Congratulations to John Heiderich receiving a Gold Award and Scott and Tamyra Perkins receiving a Silver Award for their boats. Both were outstanding, and it was a special time together for all who attended.
The weather was very favorable with lots of sunshine through the week. The Bolt Castle is very impressive to both see and walkthrough on the cruise day.
Although some time has passed with a focus on the Lake Lure Commemoration, I wanted to share two photo links below for your review. The first is for Boats and the Bolt Castle ( gallery below) and the second is for the Homes (CLICK HERE) that could be photographed on our daily cruises. It’s truly remarkable to see the variety of houses and docks throughout the islands!
There are a number of photos, but I hope that you will enjoy looking through.
On the way up, it was a privilage to also stop by the Smith Mountain Lake Chapter Annual Show and spend the afternoon with members of both our chapters..…..and to attend their awards dinner. Bryan Wheeler received a very nice award for his 1937 Hacker Craft – Resurection.
My best, Steve
